Cloud cover continues to hold firm across the region this evening,
serving to slow the temperature fall thus far. Therefore, did make
some minor adjustments to hourly temperature and dew points grids.
However, did not deviate from the overnight low forecast with the
continuation of cold air advection with light east/northeasterly
surface winds prevailing. Otherwise, the remainder of the forecast
is in good shape as well so no other changes are needed at this
time.

.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Saturday Night)

Cloudy skies continue to move into the region today, which will
limit high temperatures today and keep tonight`s lows up. Winds
will be light tonight, minimizing the need for any cold weather
products to be issued tonight. Clouds will stick around overnight
before beginning to move towards our far southern zones by
daybreak Saturday. That, combined with the southerly flow from
the progressing surface high pressure will allow for a warmer day
Saturday, where highs will reach the high 40s or low 50s. The
clouds will move back into the region from the southeast Saturday
evening ahead of the next round of rain.

The rain will come ahead of an upper-level trough. The associated
surface low in the Gulf will allow for relatively warm, moist air
to move in from the south. As such, the chance of wintry precip
has substantially decreased from previous forecasts. /57/

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday through next Thursday)

Rain will stick around before moving to the southeast Sunday
afternoon. The upper-level pattern that follows will begin a
gradual warming trend that will allow for afternoon highs of low
to mid 70s by Tuesday. Another weak cold front is expected to move
through the area on Thursday, dropping the temperatures to better
reflect seasonal averages before warming back up on Friday. /57/

(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 950 PM CST Fri Feb 21 2025

For the 22/06Z TAFs, MVFR to lower VFR OVC cloud decks will
persist for the next several hours, gradually receding from north
to south overnight, making way for BKN/SCT VFR skies in their
wake. Mostly quiet weather will continue before showers return to
deep east Texas late in the afternoon, spreading north into the
evening. Winds will become light and variable overnight before
resuming a northerly orientation with relatively light speeds less
than 5 kts through the daylight hours, with limited gusts of less
than 10 kts.
